$20,000 reward issued for information on Dobson case

Windsor police have offered an incentive for anyone with information on one of the city's most notorious cold cases.

The Windsor Police Service Board has approved a $20,000 reward for any tips that lead to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the 1995 murder of Diane Dobson.

Dobson was last seen walking down Prince Road at around 5:45 p.m. on Valentine's Day, 1995. Her body was found the next day in a ditch at Windsor’s Brighton Beach. A preliminary investigation revealed that a violent blow to the head was the official cause of death.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit recently resubmitted evidence utilizing advances in DNA analysis to assist in identifying suspects responsible for the crime, and they are hopeful the technology will lead to some answers.

"There are people out there who know who is responsible for this horrific murder or who have information that can help us solve this crime," said Windsor Police Inspector Scott Jeffery. "We hope this reward money will encourage these people to come forward and tell us what they know."

Anyone with information, including those who have previously spoken to police, should call the new Cold Case Review Unit tip line at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4305. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
