Conservative candidate launches campaign in Windsor West

The Conservative candidate in a Windsor riding has hopes of turning it blue in this federal election.

Harbinder Gill, the Conservative Party of Canada candidate for Windsor West, launched his campaign on Monday evening.

"If we are going to successfully prosper in our region, for now, and in the immediate future, we need a new Conservative government, with a great track record of success for our region, and of course, we need more Conservative MPs representing the Windsor region with more direct seats at the governing table," said Gill.

He added that the current tension over tariffs by the U.S. government should be driving voters' choices this election.

"The policies of the soon-to-be Conservative government with Pierre Poilievre as Prime Minister, are the governing policies we need in Windsor to perfectly match the benefits for our local industries, skilled trade workers, and our strategic geographical location to the USA," said Gill.

Gill served Windsor as a police officer for over 30 years and has lived in the area for almost 40. He is educated as a civil engineer.

So far, he is running against longtime incumbent Brian Masse of the NDP, Louay Ahmad of the Green Party, and Jacob Bezaire of the People's Party.

Parties have until April 7 to formally nominate their candidates. The election is April 28.
