Lakeshore announces Canada Day fun including parade and fireworks

The Municipality of Lakeshore is looking for community groups willing to participate in its Canada Day parade.

The municipality is hosting its celebration at Millen Park and the Libro Community Centre on South Middle Road in Woodslee this year. The celebrations start with a parade down Main Street and end with a fireworks display.

Organizations willing to showcase a float, walk in the parade, or drive a vintage vehicle should submit their information to the Canada Day Parade Casting Call Form or call 519-728-2700. The deadline is June 25.

"We're excited to return to Woodslee and Millen Park for our annual Canada Day celebrations that will bring the fun and spirit of Lakeshore's communities together," said Mayor Tracey Bailey.

The parade down Main Street in Woodslee starts at 3:45 p.m., and opening ceremonies are at the main stage at 4:30 p.m. Throughout the evening, there's a children's show, face painting, and a DJ.

Almost Famous will hit the stage at 7:30 p.m. before the fireworks display starts at 9:45 p.m. on the baseball diamond.

The location of Lakeshore's Canada Day festivities rotates between the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre, Lakeview Park, Millen Park, and Stoney Point Community Park.

This year's event was planned for Stoney Point Community Park. The municipality moved it because of upcoming construction. It'll be in Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches next year.
