People in downtown Windsor will start to see work around the civic esplanade as the city prepares for its first ice surface.
"You'll begin to see increased activity here at the square with the plan to have the rink up and running, we don't have an official date yet, but it's coming soon within the next three to four weeks at this point if everything goes well with the weather," said James Chacko, Executive Director of Parks & Facilities.
The transition from the water feature to the ice rink started two weeks ago.
The rink was originally scheduled to open in the beginning of 2025 but some refrigeration parts did not arrive on time.
Construction of the $15.4 million ice rink and summer water feature began in the summer of 2024.
