The Town of Tecumseh has unveiled a bust of its namesake, Chief Tecumseh, in the town’s hall.
Fred Zavadil, a renowned wood carver and artist, approached the town in 2024, offering his plaster carving of Chief Tecumseh.
Honoured by the gift, town officials acknowledged the need to have the bust cast in bronze to protect the fragile clay sculpture.
The town hired MST Bronze Limited of Toronto to create a rubber mould of the bus and complete the bronzing process.
"We are thrilled to be adding a significant legacy piece to the town's art collection, thanks to the generosity of the artist," said Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara.
The finished statue was returned to Town Hall and now sits inside council chambers.
