16-year-old charged after crash involving e-scooter

The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a crash on Hwy. 3 involving an e-scooter.

Police say the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday on Hwy. 3 at Todd Lane in LaSalle.

"As the use of these vehicles continues to grow across the county, it is important for riders to recognize that e-scooters are not permitted on controlled access highways and are subject to Ontario's Highway Traffic Act," said a release from the OPP.

A 16-year-old from Windsor is charged with going through a red light and not wearing a helmet.

The OPP encourages all riders to prioritize safety, remain aware of their surroundings, and respect the rules of the road.
