Huron Pork Producers Encouraged To Remain Vigilant

Ontario Pork Director Teresa Van Raay says Huron County producers, as the largest pork producing county in Ontario, have a responsibility to make sure there animals remain health.

She told this week's Huron Pork Producers Annual Meeting they've done that in the past year by instituting bio-security measures that have been effective in minimizing the treat of PED.

Van Raay says part of the reward for doing that has been good prices for their product.

She suggests the next challenge is to remain vigilant against the return of PED or other viruses that could threaten their herds.

The Ontario Pork Director points out the worst thing producers could do now is assume the threat is over and become complacent.
