New Manure Spreader Shown At Huron Demo Day

A new manure spreader demonstrated by Farm and Food Care attracted a lot of attention at the recent Huron Soil and Crop Improvement Association Demo Day.

Bruce Kelly says one of the big advantages of the Dribble Bar is that it allows a farmer to spread manure in a standing crop without getting any manure on the plants themselves. The Dribble Bar distributes the manure through tubes that touch the ground so the manure goes directly to the ground. Kelly says that means it can be used immediately by the crop rather than being washed away by spring runoff.

The spreader distributes manure evenly in a 50 ft wide path.

Kelly says 65 per cent of phosphorous on the land is washed off by the spring thaw but the Dribble Bar allows farmers to distribute manure when the crops are green and able to take up the nutrients.
