GFO Calls New Hamilton Flour Mill 'Positive News' For Growers

The CEO of Grain Farmers of Ontario sees this week's P & H Milling announcement as positive news.

Barry Senft says the company's new flour mill in Hamilton is expected to mean a 10 per cent increase in the amount of Ontario wheat P & H handles.

He suggests any time there's a double-digit increase in usage, it's less wheat that has to go into another market.

Senft points out it also means less wheat that has to leave the province for processing and the mill will create jobs for the Ontario agrifood sector.

The mill will be the first new flour mill in the province in 75 years.

Senft says it should also be a more efficient facility that the other mills in Ontario working with older technology.

P & H is investing 40 million dollars in the new mill, the province 5 million.
