U-S, Canadian Cattle And Sheep Numbers Up

The USDA has released it's report on the number of cattle and sheep on U-S and Canadian farms as of January 1st.

The combined cattle numbers are up 3 per cent from a year ago.

The number of cows and heifers that have calved were up 2 per cent.

In the U-S, the total inventory was up 3 per cent on the year while cows and heifers that have calved were also up 3 per cent.

In Canada, the total inventory and the number of cows and heifers that have calved were up slightly from a year ago.

The combined sheep and lamb number for the two countries January 1st was 6 point 15 million head - up slightly from a year ago.

Breeding sheep and market sheep and lamb numbers were also up slightly on the year.

U-S sheep and lamb, breeding sheep and market sheep and lamb numbers were up 1 per cent from 2015.

The total Canadian sheep and lamb numbers were down 2 per cent, breeding sheep down 1 per cent and market sheep and lambs down 3 per cent from January 1st of 2015.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
