Organic Council Of Ontario Wants To Find, Overcome Growth Barriers

The Organic Council of Ontario is getting Growing Forward 2 funding for a sector wide assessment of the barriers to growth for the industry.

That assessment will also develop specific and measurable goals for overcoming those barriers.

OCO Chair Tom Manley points out demand for organic products far outstrips supply in Ontario.

He says provincial business are facing intense pressure from the U-S and Quebec to increase their market share.

Council member Simon Jacques suggests helping producer overcome the barriers to scaling up their operations and scaling out production will benefit the whole sector.

The almost 36 thousand dollar project will wrap up with a report next March.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
