Former U of G Prof, OMAF Assistant Deputy Minister Dr. Clare Rennie Passes

Doctor Clare Rennie has passed away.

Doctor Rennie graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College in 1947, then picked up a Masters and PhD from Iowa State University before returning to Guelph.

He then taught at the University of Guelph for 22 years - including time as head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and as acting OAC Dean.

He's credited with introducing computer technology to the Ontario Agricultural College.

Doctor Rennie helped establish genetic indexes for dairy cattle that shaped the animal genetic industry for decades.

After leaving the OAC, Doctor Rennie spent 17 years as an assistant deputy minister at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

He was born in Blackwater Junction in Ontario in 1926.

He died last Thursday in Guelph.

Doctor Clare Rennie's funeral was held Monday in Guelph.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
