A new federal-provincial government investment is aimed at bringing more bio-based industries to the Sarnia-Lambton region.
The 12 million dollars goes into Bioindustrial Innovation Canada to support the Centre for Commercialization of Sustainable Chemistry Innovations in the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.
Among the Centre's investments to date is the BioAmber plant, which makes succinic acid using corn as its feedstock.
The investment comes from FedDev Ontario - the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
FedDev says it's expected to create 478 full-time equivalent jobs and result in 250 new bioindustrial collaborations, especially among small and medium-sized businesses.
