It was a record-breaking year for hockey lovers who also take pride in supporting the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. The annual Hockey for Hospice raised $213,000 -- the most in the event's 19-year history. Tournament co-chair Paul Pietraszko says he's not surprised this community keeps getting more generous. "I used to be, but every year they seem to beat last year. Unfortunately I'm coming to expect it, as opposed to being shocked," says Pietraszko. "It is a wonderful surprise every time they do it and it's nice to see we grew by $4,000." About 1,500 teams from all over Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent ages seven to 14 play in the tournament. "I honestly don't know what would happen to the hockey community if we stopped it," says Pietraszko. "There are kids here that have played in it all their careers."
