Fired Windsor police officer Dorothy Nesbeth has officially filed an appeal to get her job back, BlackburnNews.com has learned.
The appeal was filed on December 22 by a local appeal lawyer. The lawyer says Nesbeth has not officially retained anyone to represent her during the appeal. That decision will be made when Nesbeth returns to the country.
In July 2010, Nesbeth attempted to cross the Ambassador Bridge without declaring a large quantity of alcohol.
After four years of hearings, Nesbeth was dismissed on December 19. She was suspended with pay for the duration of the hearing, collecting nearly $400,000 in four years.
Windsor police Chief Al Frederick has said Nesbeth is entitled to be put back on police payroll during the appeal process.
