UPDATE: Car Smashes Through Leamington Business

A Leamington business got an unwelcome surprise Friday morning shortly after opening.

OPP say a 60-year-old woman "inadvertently stepped on the accelerator" and smashed through the front window of Spartan Nutrition & Fitness Centres on Talbot St. W.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The only person inside the store was the clerk, who was not injured.

OPP say since the incident occurred on private property, the Highway Traffic Act doesn't apply and charges "probably" won't be laid.
