Snow, sleet, ice, and extreme cold temperatures. These all have an affect on your vehicle.
On top of that, Co-owner of Armstrong-Macko Autopro Dave Macko says car problems become accentuated when it gets cold.
Macko says car batteries should be replaced every three to five years. "At zero degrees celsius, a battery can only produce about 60% of its original strength in warmer temperatures, but requires about two times the power to start a battery."
Macko also says they found a dead cat under the hood of a car recently. He says the animal was trying to stay warm. "It might be a good idea to honk your horn sometimes before you start your car just to scare them away." Macko adds snow tires are also a must this time of year.
