Prestigious Pageant Seeks Local Girls

A local casting call is looking for girls interested in possibly becoming the next Miss Universe Canada.

Regional Director for Miss Universe Canada's western region Sonny Borrelli says the top five from this region will compete in the nationals and that winner will represent Canada in NBC's Miss Universe. "The opportunity that local girls have to get to that ultimate stage has never been brighter because it's right here in Windsor, there's not a lot of traveling they have to do," says Borrelli. "If they compete in our pageant and they make that top five, it opens up a world of doors for them."

Even with no experience, Borrelli encourages girls to give pageants a try. "The ability to stand on stage in a two-piece bikini and showcase yourself to the world, if that doesn't give you the best self-confidence, I don't know what will," says Borrelli. "Any girl that has ever entered a pageant will tell you that the ability to public speak after participating in a pageant is unmatched."

The casting call is on January 25 at Mezzo on Erie St. from 1pm-4pm. Girls must pre-register, be between the ages 18 and 27 and have Canadian citizenship.
