Chatham-Kent officials are continuing to implement money from the province to help end homelessness.
The municipality has recieved an average of $1.75-million from Ontario over the last two years as part of the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative.
Director of Employment and Social Services Valerie Colasanti says now that they've created projects like their homeless response line, they want to try and keep people from becoming homeless. "A lot of those dollars are used for very reactive services, for example helping someone with their hydro or rent so they can remain housed. We now want to get more preventative where people don't get to the point where they're homeless."
Colasanti hopes they can roll out new plans in the next 6-8 months.
In total, the Ontario government is dishing out $587-million across the province for the initiative.
