Safety Village Branching Out

The Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village is broadening its horizons and expanding its programming.

Organizers say they'll extend the length of safety and injury prevention programming from 16 weeks to 32. They'll also offer courses for children grades 1-8, as well as young adults and seniors.

Executive Director Barb Lovell says they'll have to make adjustments, since the safety village can only accomodate younger children. "We have to target not only what children and teens are more at-risk of, but we also have to try and generate their interest. Everything we do has the 'tell me, show me, involve me module.'"

A new commercial featuring local actress Brianna Corbin is kicking off the village's latest fundraising campaign, which can be found below.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
