Festival Of Giving Success

A number of charities across Chatham-Kent are sharing more than $270,000 raised Saturday at the Festival of Giving.

Art Stirling, executive director of the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent, says the number is still being revised upward, and while it will come in a little below the level of last year, it was a tremendous night.

"People seemed to be upbeat and ready with spring upon us to break loose a little bit and enjoy themselves," he says. "For the last few years we've been hovering around $300,000. While it is down a little, it's still well over a quarter of a million dollars and we're pretty excited that the community continues to support the Festival of Giving, our sponsors continue to support us and we are able to continue to do a lot of good work for folks here."

As well as the treatment centre, area food banks, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity and the Thamesville Sertoma Club share in the proceeds.
