Drug Forum Educates Blenheim

Fentanyl and methanphetamine continue to be the drugs causing the most problems on Chatham-Kent streets.

That's the word from Blenheim's recent drug forum, which also educated the public on ways drug misusers can get help.

Secretary of the Chatham Drug Awareness Council Emily Robert says their trying to change the stigma.

"There are a lot of negative things happening. Deaths occurring, and users getting mixed up into trouble," says Robert. "We want to bring to light that these people are people, with a history and a story behind them."

Detective Constable Nelson Das Neves says CK needs to face the reality that they, along with pretty much every other major community in the country, has a drug issue.

"I don't think they're any more prevalent in this community compared to other communities, but we emphasize different types of drugs here in the Chatham-Kent area," says Das Neves.

Guest speakers included a pharmacist aswell as reps from EMS and the Westover Treatment Centre.
