Flyers Crush Maroons 8-0

The Chatham Maroons' seven-game winning streak has come to an end following a crushing 8-0 defeat at the hands of the Leamington Flyers.

On Thursday, the Flyers took a 3-0 lead in the first and left the Maroons in the dust in the second, scoring another five goals. The Flyers also out shot the Maroons 37-26.

Maroons head coach Tyler Roeszler says it's hard to come back after falling behind early in the game.

"It just seemed like the bounces weren't going our way. It wasn't for a lack of effort or anything like that," he says. "You just had a sense early that is was going to be one of those nights."

Tensions were high and Chatham's frustrations came out in a number of fights.

Flyers right winger Derek Elliott says the Maroons are a tough team to play.

"They're physical. [Chatham] and LaSalle are probably our biggest two rivals," he says. "Whenever we play [the Maroons], or anybody really, we need to come to play... We did that tonight and it showed on the scoreboard."

The Maroons return to the ice on Sunday to take on the LaSalle Vipers at 7pm. And then on Tuesday, the Flyers will take on the Sarnia Legionnaires at 7:10pm.
