Members of the many Chatham-Kent Adult Centres hope council won't forget about them come budget time.
Health and Family Services officials say, while programming in CK's 11 centres is consistent, some facilities are running out of room to operate.
Wallaceburg Adult Centre President Pete Hensel says they have about 700 members they need to fit into a 3,500 square foot space.
"We have our facility now booked every day in the morning and afternoon, as well as a lot of evenings," he says. "Without a larger facility we just really can't accommodate a lot more people."
The Wallaceburg centre, as well as the Blenheim and Ridgetown clubs are fundraising to move into bigger facilities. However, Hensel adds additional funding would be much appreciated.
"I'm sure our membership could likely double if we could accommodate them well. But, if we have a luncheon we can only have about 45-50 people, because that's our capacity for events like that," says Hensel.
CK staff will be conducting surveys to get a better sense of what seniors want to see in the centres, including any interest in opening up facilities in towns that don't have one.
