Local Florists Ready For Valentine's Day

With Valentine's Day falling on a Sunday this year, a number of local florists are adjusting their hours.

Syd Kemsley Florist and The Purple Pansy are normally closed on Sundays but will be open today.

Tricia Xavier, owner of The Purple Pansy, says they've been very busy in the days leading up to Valentine's Day.

"Lots of people are learning to order in advance for best selection and they can get what they want," says Xavier. "So that's always a good thing to have it set aside and either deliver or pick up on the Valentine's Day itself."

Melodee Delrue owner of Syd Kemsley says you don't have to give just roses.

"Gerber daisies are very popular," says Delrue. "They also like lilies , a lot of them like mixed bouquets. We even have a lot of men who like carnations so it doesn't have to always be just roses."

The Purple Pansy is open Sunday from 9am-3pm, while Syd Kemsley Florist will be open 10am-3pm.
