LHIN May Wait To Replace CEO

The chair of the Erie St. Clair LHIN isn't saying much about why CEO Gary Switzer is no longer with the organization, but he doesn't think there will be a quick search for a replacement.

The LHIN announced yesterday that Ralph Gantor will assume the duty on an interim level.

Chair Martin Girash would only say they parted company.

"Well we've separated our ways, each gone our separate ways to prepare for the future," he says.

Girash adds there could be some profound changes coming in health care as a result of a provincial discussion paper.

"If in fact some of them are actualized it would have a significant impact on the LHIN and so we're waiting to see what that impact will be and that will inform us better about what to do," he says.

Girash says the board hasn't discussed it yet, but his recommendation is that Gantor retain the interim role of chief executive until potential changes are better understood.
