Remembering Fallen Riders With A Ride Of Silence

Members of the Chatham-Kent 4-H bike club have already learned how to share the road safely, and now they will remember fellow cyclists who have been involved in accidents.

Leader Lynn Van Maanen says for the third year in a row, the group will be taking part in the international Ride of Silence.

"It's a good reminder for kids that they have to think of and respect others who have been involved in accidents on the road," says Van Maanen.

Wednesday night's ride will also allow the club members to use some of the skills they have learned over the past two months.

"They were learning their hand signals, learning to watch for traffic, learning where and how to dismount... just being aware of other vehicles on the road," says Van Maanen. "And of course being respectful while already in traffic."

The 10 km ride starts at 6:30pm at the Agronomy building of the University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus.

Members of the public are also invited to take part in the ride.
