Chatham-Kent's Children Safety Village is working on making their facility a global leader in child protection and education.
Safety Village officials have been sharing information with similar operations in Japan, the U.S., and most recently Australia.
Executive Director Barb Lovell says these talks have included the village's recent move to solar energy.
"The panels are set up just along our farm area. We've flipped the switch and we're on the grid, so we're hoping to save some money," says Lovell.
She adds switching to solar energy will cut the safety village's electricity costs in half.
