It might not be time to start bundling up but that isn't stopping the Chatham-Kent United Way and Salvation Army from starting Coats for Coffee.
Coordinator Mary Symons says on Positivity Day (September 13) the first 200 people to make a donation at the United Way in Chatham will get a little something in return.
"Between the hours of 10am and 2pm, participants who wish to donate will be able to use our 425 drive-thru and drop off a coat and received a cup of joe," says Symons.
Coats for Coffee will kick off the annual initiative, Operation Cover-up.
Kate do Forno, on the Prosperity Round Table says starting the initiative on Positivity Day was no coincidence.
"Operation Cover-up provides good, warm coats for families and individuals in need throughout our community," says do Forno. "Positivity Day just seemed like a perfect opportunity to launch our event."
Symons says they're expecting about a dozen people to volunteer during Coats for Coffee.
"We are excited, and look forward to having a fantastic response to this opportunity," says Symons.
Although Coats for Coffee is only running for a few hours on September 13, people can donate coats until November 30, 2016.
Operation Cover-up isn't new to Chatham-Kent but Symons says it has been very successful in the past.
"As always, Chatham-Kent is very eager and steps up to the requests and the needs that are out there, and ensures that the need is met," says Symons.
