All Lanes Open On Parry Bridge

After more than four months of partial or complete closures, Chatham's Parry Bridge is fully open to traffic.

The majority of surface work on the bridge has been completed. However, crews will continue working at the site, and load restrictions will remain in effect.

"The majority of the work left over will be under the bridge, doing bank reinforcement and things of that nature," says Chatham-Kent Director of Engineering and Transportation Adam Sullo. "The construction finish should be approximately the end of October."

The bridge was completely closed to traffic in June, and was partially reopened last month. Sullo adds any other lane restrictions will be highly unlikely as construction wraps up.

"If we saw one or the other, it might just be for some staging of equipment, and I don't know if it would be permanent moving forward. We're working with the contractor just to identify any needs, but the majority of the work on the surface has been completed," says Sullo.

Sullo reminds motorists to drive safe, as the area around the bridge is still considered an active construction site.
