Staff Loving Language Centre Move

The unanticipated relocation of the Chatham Adult Language and Learning Centre has turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Following what's described simply as "circumstances" that made them move from their Fifth St. location, officials have now set up shop at 240 King St., picking up right where they left off with their literacy and essential skills training.

"Being [here] has actually been a benefit for our organization," says Executive Director Tracy Callaghan. "We were able to design the floor plan the way we wanted and make it a warm, friendly environment for learners."

Besides the customized space, Callaghan adds Downtown Chatham is an ideal location for the underemployed residents and newcomers they service.

"It's drawn in more people. Being downtown is really important because all the bus routes merge here with our bus depot," says Callaghan. "We have the child care centre here, so our goal was to be out in front, and eliminate some of those barriers."

The centre moved locations in early March 2016.
