Garrett Williamson sank a shot at the buzzer to double the London Lightning's playoff series lead.
The Lightning survived a amazing comeback by the Windsor Express to take Game 2 of the NBL Central Division Finals 106-105 on Mother's Day afternoon at Budweiser Gardens. London now leads Windsor 2-0 in the best-of-seven series leading into the trip to Windsor for Game 3.
Windsor had a furious run in the fourth quarter after being down by 15 points at halftime, and had taken the lead for the first time in the game in the latter half of the fourth. The Express held a one point lead and was controlling the ball before Williamson picked up the steal and put it through the hoop.
London led the game after one quarter by a 33-15 margin.. In contrast, Windsor outscored the Lightning 33-23 in the fourth frame.
Marvin Phillips added 19 points for the Lightning, including a four-for-four from the free throw line. Royce White picked up a double-double with 18 points and a team-leading ten rebounds, as well as seven assists.
For Windsor, it was Shaquille Keith leading in scoring with 26 points, along with nine rebounds. Darren Duncan double-doubled with 20 points and 13 assists. Tony Bennett contributed 21 points. Juan Pattillo led in defence with 12 rebounds and sank 14 points for a double-double of his own.
The scene now shifts to Windsor-Essex for Game 3, scheduled for Thursday night at the Express' temporary home, the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore. Tipoff is set for 7pm.
