Two people are facing charges, including attempted murder, after a gun was pulled and a man was struck by a vehicle on the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation.
The Ontario Provincial Police say on May 11 before 1am, three people attended a residence on Oneida Rd. to "confront" the occupants of the home. Police say an altercation ensued when two of the occupants exited the home, and one of them pulled out a gun. The same person then drove a vehicle toward the three visitors.
One man was struck and injured by the vehicle and a woman was narrowly missed. The extent of the man's injuries are unknown.
On May 12, a man and a woman were arrested by the Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation Police, and the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit executed a search warrant at the residence.
As a result, 33-year-old Vanessa Cornelius of Oneida First Nation has been charged with the following offences:
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Pointing a firearm
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Assault
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine)
- Two counts of possession of a Schedule II substance (other drugs)
- Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance (other drugs)
- Possession of a Schedule II substance (cannabis marijuana under 30 g)
- Possession of a Schedule II substance (cannabis resin over 1 g)
- Producing a Schedule II substance (cannabis marijuana)
- Two counts of assault with a weapon
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance
- Possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine)
- Possession of a Schedule II substance (other drugs)
- Possession of a Schedule II substance (cannabis marijuana under 30 g)
- Possession of a Schedule II substance (cannabis resin over 1 g)
- Producing a Schedule II substance (cannabis marijuana)
