No injuries are reported, but the damages are pegged at a quarter of a million dollars after a fire broke out at a trucking company on Graham St. in Blenheim.
Chatham-Kent fire crews say two transport trucks were already going up in flames by the time they arrived at around 11:30pm Thursday.
The fire was spreading quickly, but firefighters were able to knock it down and protect some of the other trucks that were parked just a few feet away.
Fire crews were also able to protect the main building, some fuel tanks, and some trailer units that all were all near the scene of the blaze.
"Once again, we see our dedicated firefighters working to not only protect the lives and well-being of the residents of Chatham-Kent but also working hard to protect the valuable businesses that are the economic engines of our community," says Assistant Chief Chris Case in a news release. "The crew from Blenheim did a fantastic job of getting to the scene and quickly bringing the situation under control."
Investigators say the fire was caused by one of the trucks' electrical wiring.
The property that was saved by the quick work of the firefighters is estimated at $2-million in property and transport trucks.
