It is now being called the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
Police in Las Vegas say 59 people were killed and at least 515 injured when a man on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino opened fire on 22,000 concert goers at the Route 91 Harvest Festival across the street.
Authorities have confirmed that two Canadians are among the dead. One is a 23-year-old British Columbia man who was attending the festival with his girlfriend. The other is a mother of four from Alberta who had been employed at a Catholic school.
The shots rang out as country singer Jason Aldean performed.

Las Vegas police say they found the suspect, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada dead in the hotel room.

Police call it a lone-wolf attack, although they are interviewing a woman who lives with the man at a retirement community.

Two police officers were also injured. One is in stable condition after surgery, and the other suffered minor injuries.
The shooting is still under investigation.
