Investigators with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office say the cause of a downtown Chatham fire is "undetermined."
Whitney Burk of the Chatham-Kent fire department says they couldn't find a cause for the blaze that gutted Church's Army and Outdoor Military Surplus and a hot tub storage facility next door on Thames St. because of the "poor conditions and extensive damage."
Burk says the fire started in the roof and the walls at the army surplus store and caused $550,000 in damage.
The large fire on October 14 had almost 60 firefighters from three stations battling it with several pieces of equipment, including aerial trucks.
Nobody was hurt, but many nearby homes were evacuated for several hours.
