Ontario employees of Brinks have ratified new contract agreements.
The new contracts are four years in length, according to Unifor, which represents the employees.
Unifor has one bargaining group in Ottawa and one representing Brinks workers in the rest of the province. The new contracts cover about 1,000 armoured car drivers and messengers.
The new deals include improved benefit packages, the elimination of forced overtime, and wage increases, particularly among female employees. The exact terms have not been disclosed.
"These were very difficult negotiations," said Unifor assistant to the Secretary-Treasurer Jenny Ahn in a press release. "In the end we were able to ratify new collective agreements in the face of a rapidly changing industry."
With the new collective bargaining agreement in place for Ontario employees, union members in British Columbia are still conducting scheduled votes on their tentative deal.
