The Chatham Maroons are back on the ice Friday night as they head to St. Thomas to face the well-rested Stars.
Poor weather conditions have lightened the workload for both teams to start the year, but especially for St. Thomas. The Stars' last game was on December 22 -- a 3-1 loss against LaSalle. The team was scheduled to play a game against Strathroy on February 5, but that was postponed because of a snowstorm.
The Maroons also had one of their games postponed because of the same storm system -- Chatham's game was scheduled for January 6 in Strathroy.
The Stars are currently in fifth place in the standings, but with a couple of games in hand on fourth-place Sarnia, St. Thomas could jump into fourth place with a pair of wins.
The Maroons are just one spot behind the Stars in the standings, but they trail St. Thomas by nine points.
Friday night's game is also expected to mark the Maroons' debut of former Stars forward Justin Badour, who was acquired by Chatham just prior to the trade deadline. Badour played 31 games with the Stars earlier this season, putting up 12 points (six goals, six assists) over that stretch.
