A Chatham-Kent councillor wants to know whether residents think there are too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to council.
Councillor Doug Sulman's motion, which calls for the municipality to receive input by potentially adding a question to the 2018 municipal ballot, passed 15-1 at Monday night's council meeting.
The proposed question would ask whether the number of councillors in Chatham-Kent should be reduced, at the beginning of council's term in December of 2022.
The motion calls for a public meeting to be held on Monday, February 12 at 4pm to receive community input on the matter.
According to the report, the proposed bylaw concerning the question will be debated further by councillors at the council meeting later that day.
Sulman says the question would be an opportunity for the community to provide input.
CK Chief Legal Officer John Norton says the motion was presented on Monday because the Election Act requires ten days of notice for public input on changes to the election process.
