Philadelphia Beats New England 41-33 in Super Bowl LII

The Philadelphia Eagles are the toast of the football world.

The Eagles won their first-ever Super Bowl title with a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, played in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

It was the Eagles' third appearance in the Super Bowl. However, it's their first title since 1960, predating the first Super Bowl by seven years.

Philadelphia celebrates its first championship in any sport since the Philadelphia Phillies won the Major League Baseball World Series in 2008.

The Patriots were trying to repeat as Super Bowl champions and get their third title in four years.

It was a game in which the Eagles got out in front early and held a 22-12 lead over the Patriots at halftime. The Patriots, led by veteran quarterback Tom Brady, mounted a comeback and took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia regained the lead on a close yet dramatic catch. Brady and New England tried to mount a drive but were unable to score.

Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles threw for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He was named Super Bowl LII Most Valuable Player.

Brady had 505 yards and three touchdowns of his own.

The 878 total passing yards were the most in Super Bowl history.

The game is the most-watched television event of the year, known for the commercials and the halftime show, hosted this year by recording artist Justin Timberlake.

NBC, which broadcast the game and holds the U.S. rights for the upcoming Winter Olympics, reportedly charged around $5-million for a 30-second spot.
