Patients Have More Say About How Hospitals Operate

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is making history.

The hospitals in Chatham and Wallaceburg will be the first in Canada to have a patient evaluating them when the accreditation team comes in early October. Patients are now being added to accreditation teams to identify and address gaps in healthcare.

Hospital accreditation measures performance and determines if standards are being met.

Meantime, Board of Directors Chair Greg Aarssen says a new community strategic plan will be revealed June 11.

He says the community is glad to have ownership of its hospitals back after holding several meetings over the last few months.
