A Heads-Up Along The Chatham-Kent Shoreline

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is asking those in the Rondeau Bay are to be cautious.

The LTVCA has issued a safety bulletin for the area including Erieau, Rondeau Bay, Rondeau Park, Erie Shore Dr. and Rose Beach Line.

The safety bulletin, the least-serious flood bulletin on the LTVCA's flood scale, is being issued after Environment Canada put out a strong wind warning for western Lake Erie.

Forecasters are calling for winds coming in from the northeast, then east the rest of the weekend and into Monday.  During this period sustained wind speeds could reach 35 to 40 km/hr.  The highest winds are expected throughout Saturday night and late Sunday afternoon and evening.  Waves on Lake Erie could reach a metre in height Saturday and 1.5 m Sunday afternoon.

The winds could make the shoreline in the Rondeau Bay area susceptible to flooding, although the LTVCA reiterates that there is currently no severe risk for flooding in the area.

Residents in vulnerable areas along the Lake Erie and Rondeau Bay shorelines should pay attention to local conditions and prepare accordingly.

Residents should keep a close eye on weather conditions and plan accordingly.

Officials will continue to monitor the situation and update this advisory if necessary.
