The work of a local doctor is not going unnoticed in the medical community.
Dr. Susan Munro, a family medicine physician with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA), recently accepted an award from Western University, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.
As stated in a media release from the CKHA, the Award of Excellence for Faculty in Community/Distributed Sites recognizes educators in Southwestern Ontario.
"Teaching Family Medicine Residents, who choose our Chatham-Kent site for training, has been a privilege for me and all the family doctors and specialists who are involved," said Dr. Munro in a statement. "It is also very gratifying to see that many of our residents continue to practice in Chatham-Kent after completing our program... This is so important for an area, that not so long ago had great difficulty recruiting physicians."
Dr. Munro has played a very active role in the local medical community. As director of medical education with CKHA and regional academic director with Schulich School of Medicine, she trains others in the field, but she is also a founding member of the Thamesview Family Health Team.
"On behalf of the CKHA, I extend my sincere congratulations to Dr. Munro for her ongoing commitment to CKHA and the healthcare community as a whole," said CKHA President and CEO Lori Marshall.
