A Chatham man is in trouble with the law after allegedly stealing his mom's phone.
Police went to an address in Chatham on Saturday to speak with a woman about a stolen phone.
The woman suspected her 26-year-old son had stolen it.
Police say they called the phone and spoke with the son, who promptly hung up when he discovered the phone was reported stolen.
The 26-year-old Chatham man could not be located and is currently being sought by police for the charges of theft and possession under $5,000.

A shoplifter was arrested on multiple charges in Chatham this weekend.
Police responded to a theft at Walmart in Chatham on Saturday.
According to police, a man was hiding items as he walked around the store.
The man allegedly tried to run away with the stolen items but was confronted by security.
He also allegedly assaulted a loss prevention officer and fled to another store in the shopping district.
Police say the man tried to change his appearance by taking off his hat.
A 39-year-old Chatham man was arrested for assault, theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000, and escaping lawful custody. He was released with conditions and a pending court date.

Police say a Blenheim woman was charged after allegedly failing to report a crash over the weekend.
According to police, a 44-year-old woman had hit an object with her vehicle in Blenheim Saturday night, causing approximately $5,000 in damage.
The woman was not injured and was charged under Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.
In Ontario, all motor vehicle collisions must be reported to police if they incur more than $2,000 in damage and/or if there are injuries to the involved parties.
