Day three at the IPM gets underway

The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo has reached the half-way mark but there are still several events planned over the next three days.

Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Lawrence MacAulay is expected to stop by Pain Court Thursday morning. He will lead the tractor parade to the plowing competition field at 9 a.m. MacAulay will also be under the World Records tent at 10:30 a.m. IPM organizers will attempt to break another world record for most people bobbing for apples at one time.

A second attempt to break a world record will be held Thursday afternoon. IPM organizers will attempt to build the world's tallest sugar cube structure from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Organizers were successful in Wednesday's bid to create and consume the world's largest Caesar cocktail.

Other crowd-pleasing shows such as the dancing tractors and performances by the Canadian Cowgirls are also expected to happen Thursday, with shows scheduled in the morning and afternoon.

Gates to the tented city officially opened Tuesday morning. The last day of the IPM is on Saturday, where gates will close at 5 p.m.
