Residents across southwestern Ontario will want to secure their lawn furniture and watch for falling tree branches as strong winds move into the area Tuesday afternoon.
Environment Canada has ended a special weather statement for London-Middlesex, Oxford, and Windsor-Essex warning of southwesterly wind gusts of up to 80 km/h. Powerful winds will still continue into Tuesday night, before weakening by Wednesday morning.
"Loose objects and tree branches may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Local power outages are also possible," the national weather agency said on its website.
In Chatham-Kent and Norfolk County, where a wind warning has now ended, several trees have been knocked down and strong gusts have been blamed for a handful of collisions. OPP are reminding drivers to be vigilant of objects on the road and to treat any intersections with malfunctioning stop lights as four-way stops.
Winds in that area could reach gusts of 100 km/h, according to Environment Canada.
