A vigil at the Chatham Cenotaph leading up to Remembrance Day is now underway.
This the second year that Christ Church has run the event.
"CK Remembers is just to have the community involved in the vigil to remember all of those that have given us the freedoms we have today," said church warden Judy Smith. "We've had great support from the community last year, and again, the community support is overwhelming."
The vigil in 2017 was 150 hours long, but Smith said this year, they've cut it back to 64 hours.
"The amount of time was just basically when we thought that would be a good start time," said Smith. "It continues right until the service on Sunday, the Remembrance Day service itself."
All 64 hours are covered, but they always welcome more volunteers.
"Some are more sparse than others, particularly the wee hours of the morning," said Smith. "Anyone is still welcome to contact the church office and get involved, they'll be just teamed up with some of the smaller groups. But certainly, all are welcome to partake."

The vigil started at 6 p.m. on Thursday November 8, with the Colour Guard from Legion Br. 642. It will continue until the Remembrance Day service at 11 a.m. Sunday November 11.
