OCS says they're caught up on cannabis orders

Ontarians who have placed online orders for legal cannabis should be receiving them soon, if they have not already.

The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS), which is overseeing online sales of legalized marijuana, said Monday evening that they have cleared their backlog of online orders for product. The OCS said they worked around the clock to fill the 220,000 orders received so far.

“The OCS appreciates customers’ patience over the last few weeks as we worked collaboratively with licensed producers to resolve the initial challenges of launching a new business,” said OCS president and CEO Patrick Ford in a news release. “Now with the backlog of orders cleared, we are moving forward and returning to our one-to-three business day delivery expectation. Our top priority is to continuously improve the customer retail experience for the many Ontarians that are buying safe, quality recreational cannabis products from the OCS.”

With pot being legalized across Canada over three weeks ago, issues with the rotating Canada Post strikes and labelling problems from licenced producers caused a backlog of shipments, and Ford said the rotating strikes may still cause delays for some consumers.

The only way Ontarians can legally purchase cannabis is through the OCS' online service. The OCS said they are continuing to work with suppliers to provide additional cannabis products.
