A 50-year-old Windsor woman has found out the hard way why you do not speed, especially on Hwy. 401.
The Ontario Provincial Police in Chatham-Kent pulled over a vehicle in the westbound lanes near Queen's Ln. Saturday afternoon that was clocked at 160 km/hr.
The speed limit is 100 km/hr, so the driver was charged with racing a motor vehicle, had her license suspended, and her car impounded for seven days.
If she is convicted, she could face a fine of up to $10,000, up to six months in jail, and could have her license suspended for up to two years.
Farah Adham Al-Windawi will appear in court on December 12.
The OPP reminded the public a second conviction within ten years could mean a ten-year license suspension.
"Stunt driving or racing is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving," said Chatham-Kent OPP. "It puts everyone on the road at serious risk of injury or death."
