Members of the community are invited to an open house this week to learn more about the renewal of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Wallaceburg site.
Described as an informal open house, those attending will have the chance to meet CKHA board members and take part in guided tours that showcase completed and upcoming hospital projects.
Last week city council approved a site plan for a new power plant facility at the Sydenham Campus. Earlier in the year, the hospital received $7.3 million in funding towards the construction of the new power plants to replace ageing equipment with new boilers, generators and electrical equipment.
"Following the Council's approval of the site plan, we wanted to engage with the community and provide the community with an opportunity to learn more about the project and the redevelopment of CKHA's Wallaceburg Site," says Lori Marshall, president and CEO of CKHA. "Building a new power plant that is capable of supporting current and future developments is essential to renewing the facilities at the Wallaceburg Site."
The expansion is part of the province's plan to update hospital infrastructure in Chatham-Kent and follows the Ministry's 2017 approval for $1.5 million under the Hospital Energy Efficiency Program to replace old heating and cooling equipment at the Wallaceburg site. Construction should be completed by 2019 with minimal patient service disruption.
The open house takes place on Thursday, November 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will take place in the main lobby's reception area.
